ICB started intermediatory exporting metals to Asia in 1999. Before it sold large quantities of old metals to East Indonesia metal wholesalers. In 1999, ICB exported approx. 10 % of all its non-ferrous metals. By 2000 that figure had already risen to approx. 15% and by 2001 it was approx. 20 % or approx. US$ 2 million a year.
